Living at Home offers forensic services for Life Care Plans and Cost Projections within an occupational therapy scope of practice. We can quickly advise if a plan would benefit from more detail than the VA allowance in both plaintiff and defense cases.
Our expertise includes recommendations for:
- Home modifications, such as ramps, elevators, and lifts.
- Home remodeling, such as full bathroom or kitchen remodels.
- Assistive Technology, such as environmental controls with Smart Home or similar technology, adapted computer and adapted leisure recommendations.
- Durable Medical Equipment, such as specific stationary and rolling shower chairs, commodes, adaptations to the toilet or shower.
- Aids for Independent Function, such as one-handed adaptive equipment, dressing and bathing aids and kitchen items
Services:
- Phone Consultation – Review specific case scenario and/or general recommendations provided verbally.
- Recommendations Only – A list of detailed recommendations, including specific item/model information, specifications for remodels, replacement intervals and resources will be provided for incorporation into a Life Care Plan. The Life Care Planner will cost the items.
- Full Report – A full report, with detailed recommendations, background, supporting research and costing, will be provided to be attached as an Appendix to the Life Care Plan.
- Critique of a Life Care Plan – A review of each item within LAH’s scope of practice, as described above, will be provided with a critique of the item, frequency and/cost. The critique will be provided in table format comparing each item. If the standard VA allowance is used, LAH will provide a list of detailed recommendations, including specific item/model information, specifications for remodels, replacement intervals and resources for incorporation into a Life Care Plan.
We support these plans and are able to be deposed and testify as needed.
